Every member on MISSION for the glory of Jesus
- We pray that every member is committed to Jesus' mission in prayer. They are confident and equipped to use the resources, gift and unique personality God has given them for mission. This means 'outreach' is not just a tacked on program that some people in the church does.
- We pray for a sense of urgency in our mission but not a sense of panic
- We pray for prayerful dependence in our mission and strategic actions at the same time. We believe that God chooses to work through our actions. We want to bring our five loaves and two fish for Jesus to multiply.
- We pray that we are motivated not by pride or fear but because we are captivated by Jesus' glory and we want to the glory of Jesus to cover the face of the earth
- We believe that the main mission field God gives us is the ~250,000 people who live within 15 minutes drive of our church in and around Epping
- We pray for view of mission as large as God's view of mission. It is more than just what happens locally. We want to contribute to God's work all around the world.
- We pray that we will raise up the next generation of leaders and vocational gospel workers to work in God's harvest field in our denomination, country and the world.
Every member in deep COMMUNITY in around Jesus
- We pray for a deep and welcoming community where people have an appropriate sense of belonging in small groups and big groups
- We pray that we are united in and around Jesus not sameness of culture, background, tradition, stage of life, secondary doctrine or political leaning
- We pray for a community that teaches God's word in love to one another
- We pray for a community that loves practically and not just with words
Every member GROWING in Jesus by His Word
- We pray for growth that comes from being deep in the word of God not from experience, tradition or reason
- We pray for growth that comes from the word of God going deep in our hearts, applying the gospel to places in our hearts and minds that is not yet touched by the gospel and for this to be reflected in our thinking, emotions, choices and behaviours.
- We pray that we will equip every member to understand the Bible rightly and stand firm on sound doctrine
- We pray for maturity that looks like security in Jesus, joyful obedience to God and love for others
Every member SERVING Jesus from freedom and in teams
- We pray that every member is equipped to use the resources, gifts and unique personality God has given them to serve Jesus as good stewards.
- We pray that people will direct their service to Jesus even as they serve one another. Jesus is the one the want to please.
- We pray that people are serving from a place of freedom and with great joy because of their identity in Jesus not from fear and pride, trying to find something in their ministry what they should find in Jesus
- We pray that people are serving in teams, collaborating together and committed to each other to achieve a shared goal that contributes to our mission together
Every member WORSHIPPING Jesus from delight and for rest
- We pray for corporate worship that glorifies God and builds the church that has gospel depth, human connection and builds a gospel culture
- Gospel depth means Christ and His finished work are at the centre. We want people to be enthralled by Jesus.
- Human connection means we want to communicate in such a way that speaks not just to the mind but also to the heart of everyone who gathers with us.
- Building a gospel culture means we have a long term culture building view of corporate worship. What we do week in and week out will affect what kind a church we are in 10-20 years time.
- We pray that people will worship God from delight and not duty. Our worship comes from our secure identity and union in Jesus Christ. We delight in that.
- We pray that every member will cultivate a deep and living personal relationship with God through His means of grace: His word, in prayer and in community with His people. We understand these means of grace as coming to God for rest not as toil and effort. Engaging with God through his means of grace is an act of reliance on God.
A church led by godly and competent leaders
- We want godly, prayerful, grace-filled, Bible based and effective leadership that models a life of faith and repentance and as a team: provide spiritual oversight, exercise godly discipline and provide a compelling vision and clear strategic direction for the church.
- We want clear and appropriate accountability for our leaders in their leadership of the church and in the way they model a life of faith and repentance.
- We want a clear and compelling strategic vision that is embraced by the congregation
- We want to have a view of the church that takes into account the interconnectedness of every part
- We want effective pathways and structures for evangelism and discipleship
- We want gentle and courageous leaders who are not afraid to have difficult conversations gently, will lean into conflict as an opportunity for discipleship and to glorify God.
- We want leaders who value the principle of shared leadership. Leaders who humbly, willingly and appropriately share their leadership and decision making with others, believing that God guides us as a church through the collective wisdom of the saints
- The size of our church does not determine the health of our church. But we will prepare and pray for growth by setting goals, developing strategies and working together towards those goals
while discipling the next generation
- We want to disciple whole families and not just the children. We believe that children are best discipled by parents who are maturing in their faith and love for Jesus
- We also want to do this together as a community. We believe children need peers and other adults in their lives invested in their faith journey and praying for them.
- We believe the discipling of children is long term work, so we want to work hard at easing transition between different stages of their development (e.g. kids to youth to young adulthood)
